My name is Neda Farid. I am the proud parent of a GUSD graduate, former Glendale Council PTA President, and a three decades long resident of Glendale. I hope to earn your vote by March 5, 2024.

I’m running for School Board in Area E once again because I believe voters deserve a qualified candidate who will work to serve the 25,000 students and 3,000 employees in GUSD.

Support for students.

The diversity of our community is one of its most beautiful strengths and I will work hard to ensure all students, teachers, and staff feel seen, safe, and supported. As a GUSD Board Member, I will ensure that Special Education programs are fully and adequately funded and that special education students are afforded equal access to extracurricular programs beyond the classroom. I will prioritize funding for mental health services, standards-based arts education for all students, and Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs. Defending the rights and access of students of all ethnicities and cultures, all religions, students of color, LGBTQ+ students, and students with special needs is non-negotiable. I am committed to attending as many student events - from Halloween parades and choir performances to debate matches and football games - to ensure that students feel seen and valued.

Support for educators.

GUSD is an award-winning school district with incredible educators and staff who deserve to be fairly compensated for the essential work they do. I will advocate for partnership and collaboration to ensure district financial resources are prioritized to attract and retain educator talent and support the programs and facilities that are crucial to student well-being and success. I do not believe there is a teacher shortage, I believe there is a critical retention issue. The best way to help students is to ensure that our faculty and staff have the resources and support they need. I believe that with clear priorities we can do all this, provide fiscal transparency, and keep the district financially stable. I am committed to regularly hosting events exclusively for teachers and staff to ensure that they feel heard and supported. I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Glendale Teachers Association in this race.

Support for Communities

Partnership between schools and families is a crucial foundation for every child’s success. I’m committed to promoting clear and comprehensive communication and access to district and school resources for all families. I will also work to create more opportunities for dialogue and collaboration between the district, individual schools, students, families, and the community at large. I promise to make myself accessible to the community, especially those who may not be able to attend evening board meetings by hosting regular coffees and making sure that every email and phone call is returned.
